GIANT FOOTPRINTS FOUND ON BLACK STURGEON'S MAWN LAKE ROAD

Massive footprints documented by couple rock collecting in the Black Sturgeon area

Off of Highway 527 (Armstrong Highway) or from the Black Sturgeon Road, one can find a branch off logging road called Mawn Lake Road. If you follow to it's mid point, you will find Disraeli, Caro, Albert, and Arnott Lake. The majority of campers find themselves camping somewhere at Black Sturgeon or Eskwanonwatin, (both having their own intriguing tales,) but one couple has come up to Caro Lake for many, many years, and has never had any oddities to be concerned with... Until now.

"My husband has been going camping up there for 63 years and has never seen anything like it."

It seems something has changed. In the Summer of 2017, the couple took their friends out to Caro Lake on a day trip of fishing, and as the wife likes to do, collect some nice rocks from the treasure trove of gorgeous rocks for her garden. Every time they go out she takes a few, as well as wood for crafting. Upon exiting the vehicle they all stopped in wonder, hearing the sound of knocking on one of the trees. They asked, "Did you hear that?" They all did, but it stopped.

Her husband took one of the friends out fishing while the wife sat chatting. Hours passed and nature called. She walked down a trail which follows the lake to a point, which she has been down many times and has never experienced anything out of the ordinary. While relieving herself, directly across the trail in the woods, a thunderous rumble was coming at her.

"Scared the living daylights out of me."

Whatever this was scared the living daylights out of her. It was close, and getting closer, but where was it!? She flew back down the trail and out to her friend as fast as she could asking if they had brought any Bear spray.  He did. Everyone was now present and they asked why, what happened? She explained the terrifying "Bear" charge, yet had not seen it. Just the sound of it. Scared out of her wits, she would always remember this. When seeing Sasquatch on Lake Superior II, specifically Jonathan Guse's encounter with a thundering invisible force charging at him in the woods, she got goosebumps, as he thought it was the same thing she did... A Bear.

Off to Caro Lake following the wind storm

A windstorm had occurred on Wednesday October 3, 2018 in which Environment Canada had issued a Gale/ Squall warning for the Lake Superior area, stating: Wind South 20 knots with gusts to 35 near thunderstorms. Wind increasing to Northwest 40 near midnight then diminishing to northwest 30 Thursday morning. Wind diminishing to northwest 15 Thursday evening.

On Thursday October 4, the couple decided to take a trip up highway 527 and off to their favorite spot, rock and wood collecting once again. The road was littered with branches and her husband had to cut 14 trees out of the way to get in. She expected it would be the same to come in from the Black Sturgeon as well, especially as they hadn't met a single soul from that direction. So they knew no one had been in the area. After cutting so many trees, they found their Caro Lake destination.

They got out of the truck. As her husband reached the back, unable to take his eyes off of what he was seeing, exclaimed,  "Hey look at the footprint! It's a Bigfoot print!" She replied "You're joking." He said to her, "No really, come look!"

"I couldn't believe what I was seeing."

There on the ground was a massive footprint, much larger than a human's. In fact the toe and shape was easily made out. They knew nobody had been here, especially barefoot, and with the inhospitable October weather we get in Northwestern Ontario. This was something! In fact they found several prints littering the area. There were faint giant footprints, mixed with fresher ones along side of Moose tracks. The sighting was undeniable and the next thing to do was take a photo.

Time: 2:16 PM October 4, 2018

Her husband stands 6'4" and has a shoe size of 14, which is equal to 11 7/8 - 12" in length, but was immediately shrunk when placed beside the giant footprint. Based on size comparison, I have gaged it to be 15 inches long give or take. This is the first time I had heard of Sasquatch in this particular area and is one for the maps. I plan on checking this area out at some point, and it would be great to set a trail camera one day. The couple (upon inspecting these tracks bearing,) think the being was tracking the Moose.

As a side note: Seeing that hunting season begins in October, the Moose may be pushed into different areas by hunters; areas they usually will not go, and may be forced into situations where not just humans are out to get them.

Here are two other photo's taken of the same print.
